Betelgeuse - The Dying Red Star by Bari Demers

The Big News about Betelgeuse:

Betelgeuse lies 640 light-years away within the Orion Constellation. The massive red star is the eighth brightest making it only second to its neighbor Rigel. Our Supergiant has now reached it's end, exausting the production of nuclear fusion and causing a gravitational collapse, reaching its new life of a Supernova. The Supernova will be so luminous we may even see it here on Earth.
It's not expected to go Supernova within 2012 as we like it to do, but it actually may take another million years. But it sure would be amazing to see Betelgeuse go Supernova in our life time.

Twas the night before Christmas by J. Robb Montana

A new twist to a classic Christmas  poem by Clement Clarke Moore.   As a freelance science-writer   I thought it would be fitting to make a playful performance by Camilla. It's my attempt to share the work Camilla and NASA . "Twas The Night Before Christmas" now includes  the official mascot of NASA SDO Camilla.

Who is Camilla
Even though Camilla focus is on education and public outreach of NASA Solar Dynamics Observatory ( Little SDO), the little yellow rubber chicken interacts with it's Facebook followers encouraging them to share the solar effects of our sun.

Camilla quote,"...While I do focus on the Sun and Space Weather, I also train to become an Astrochick and visit various NASA Centers and learn from so many people at NASA and other institutions..."

You can join Camilla on Facebook and Google Plus.

Twas The Night Before Christmas Video

Here is my version of Twas The Night Before Christmas in a video with Camilla has the host.
Enjoy my twist on the verse :

Twas the night before Chrismtas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
The Moon on the breast of the new Eclipse
Gave the lustre of dark red into the night

When, What To My Wondering Eyes Should Appear,
But A Large Ship, and something inside
With a little Yellow Chick, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be Camilla - the beloved Little SDO

More Rapid Than Eagles Her Coursers They Came,
And She Whistled, and Shouted, and Called Them By Name!

The Reindeer Were Stirring," Now Dasher! Now Dancer!
Now Prancer and Vixen!

On Comet! On Cupid! On Donner and Blitzen!
To The Top of The World, We Must Go!
Now Dash Away! Dash Away! Dash Away All!

When They Meet with An Obstacle, Mounted in the Sky
So Up To The House Top The Coursers They Flew
With a Ship full of Toys and The Little Yellow Chick - Camilla Too...

And Then, In A Twinkling, I Heard Someone Run
The Prancing and Pawing Of Each Little Sun

As I Drew In My Head, As I Was Turning Around,
Down The Chimney Camilla Came A Bound.

Dressed All In Fur, From  Her Head to Her Foot,
Her Clothes Were All Tarnished With Ashes And Soot

And The Thought Occured, Where Had She Been,
It The Came Like A Flash, Camilla Must of Been At
The Rim of The All Mighty Sun.

But Wait, It Was True, Camilla Had Someone Too.
He Was Chubby and Plump And Not Even Blue!
And I laughed When I Saw Him, His Belly Full As Jelly!
Camilla Was Like An Aunta,She brought us Santa

They Filled All The Stockings Full of Food
Both in The Best Of Moods

And With That They Sprang With A Whistle
And Away They Flew Like The Down Of A Thistle.
But I heard Them Both," Ere They Flew Out of Sight,
"Happy Christmas To All, And To All A Good Night!"

Merry Christmas everyone and please share my video to your friends and family - Let's make it a Christmas Special reaching out to the children and families across the world.

The darkness of Mars was ever so present with winter heading its way, temperatures plummeting to minus 100 degrees Celsius, make this reddish planet seemingly unoccupied.

The only presence on its surface are the tracks of a small NASA Rover named Curiosity. Even it was having difficult with Mars extreme temperatures.

Appearances are deceiving, as one descends deep within the undetected caverns of ancient volcanic tunnels. Something was stirring. Something evil, monstrous was beginning to move. Android Casey - 6000 Series called them Dragons. A creation by the Black Angels rivals, known as the Engineers were said to be responsible for such a "killer" species.

A surge of electricity sparked the old cave lightening its wall with a bluish ecstatic wave of current. An object emerged from its resting place, a mechanical android.

The Robotics of this creature was different then any other android, more powerful. Its demeanor was cold and calculated. Androids of this age were usually fashioned with a soft exterior latex rubber alloyed resembling artificial skin, but this android showed off its skeleton features of hard icy metal alloyed.

It's skull didn't resemble a human skull with features closer to its creators, reptilians nicknamed Green Skins.

This mechanical creatures eyes were made out of macro-crystalline blue quartz, its monstrous stares would send chills down your spine.

The loathsome creation removed itself from the chamber. Attached tubes pop-out simultaneously oozing out a bloodish blue liquid dripping along the caves smooth floor. It went over to a wall and opened  a side panel revealing a flat computer screen.

The creature scrapped its surface of ice crystals and began punching in a series of codes. The whole cavern shook violently as a cave door screeched open. The door jammed  half way, leaving just enough room for this robotics creature to makes it way into a sterile laboratory, looking brand new the day it was made. The lights automatically flickered on and off within this icy chamber.

Inside the lab laid four Plexiglas tubes, each holding a cryogenically frozen lizaroid specimen within bluish liquid. Beside them are another type of specimen altogether different known as an Trilobite fetus, also encased in a frozen state.

It has been speculated in the past the Engineers, also known as the Mala'kak are responsible for the development of an artificial Xenomorph species called the Deacon. But these are classified and unconfirmed reports according to the Sirians of Sirus 5.

What the Sirians did know, the original Xenomorph extraterrestrials considered to be an endoparasitoid species. Rumors have it their Homeworld is planet Proteus, otherwise referred to as Xenomorph Prime. The Xenomorphian species are considered a deadly carnivorous species where the young will enter its host to feed and grow into an next life cycle.

It appears the Engineers were trying to process a subspecies of the original Xenomorph, using the Jotunn's(Green Skins)genetic make-up as a new host to its original Xenomorph on Mars.

The Green Skins were known to occupy Mars as their military base 100,000 years ago.

The interior of our underground complex was said to be somewhere in the region of Luxor, Egypt. At least that's what I was told. My GPS wasn't working so well in this secure military base.
Already six months flew by, but I think I've finally
convinced my new friends that I present no threat. Well, that was the plan anyway.
Actually the Mission was going as planned, if these humans ever knew the real truth, I'm sure to be dismantled immediately.

I avoided to mention my real mission. Genealogy was so complex anything at all could go wrong. Commander Cardin had deep concerns with the overall development of mankind.  His main concern was if the human species would last, or would they end up destroying themselves along with the planet.

It was my duty to verify the outcome of mankind. If  dangerous or highly unpredictable, then I was order to eliminate the threat, most probably a virus that would make the black plague look like a picnic. A sort of rebooting system for the human species.

My Mission was two-fold...

First I must document the history of mankind, its warfare and its mental stability. Secondly, find the few super humans  strategically placed throughout history who help mankind's technology grow. You know, the ones that were ahead of their time, some know them as  Prodigies.

Dr. Jennis showed me this wandering communications device called the Internet. What an interesting concept not to mention the social impact across the world. He also pointed out a search engine called Google...oh now this was just too easy for me.
It didn't take me long to find two prodigies...ah it of the prodigies is a science fiction writer from 2011...his name is James Montana...Oh...but he's deceased now. Oh wow...look at his historical data from 2001 - looks like he gave accounts of what would happen in the future. If only his readers knew how close to the truth he actually was...interesting.
Here's one of his books... Black Angels of Sirus 5..'s a recent living prodigy...
Dex Riley - Age 26
Works for Virgin Galactic, a private Aerospace and Defense Company
Pilot/Fleet Officer
Presently living in New Mexico
Born in Calgary,Alberta
Next Mission Flight : Mars

I knew of  Dr. Jennis presence long before he decided to walk down the long hallway towards the conference room. I let him think he came in unexpected, looking over my shoulder.

"Good Morning Doctor," I turned around with a big smile," Did you have a good sleep?"

"Oh...Good Morning Casey," Dr. Jennis smiles," Are you brushing up on our history?"

"Yes! And what a history you humans have," I said," A lot of bloodshed and centuries of wars...
I paused waiting for the old man to interact. He didn't say anything else, so I continued," It's a wonder your species survived!"

Dr. Jennis answers sheepishly," Ah Yeah...most unfortunate history, but I think we learned a lot due to our mistakes." He sits beside me," do you like our media room?"

"It's quite impressive," I said," for humans..."

Dr. Jennis grins," It's amazing what we can do when we put our minds to it."

I quickly noticed something was agitating the doctor,"What's on your mind doctor?"

"Do you ever wonder what happen to your people?" Dr. Jennis says nervously.

"Why are you so nervous doctor?" I sat motionless.

Dr. Jennis moves closer, whispers," You do realize your being monitored...don't you?"

"Of course I do doctor," I whispered back. Boy these humans really don't know who their dealing with. The first week here I already sync computers and uploaded all their data. Hacking computers was old school to me. But to think they could out smart me...I mean really!

Dr. Jennis nods

I continued," answer your question, my creators are fine, I trust they fulfilled their lives, moving on to other adventures. If fact, I wouldn't be too surprise to find evidence of their existence on other planets."

Dr. Jennis was a quiet soft spoken man but intelligent, you could see his little brain cells working overtime," Like you this solar system?"

"Precisely doctor!" I said sharply, knowing all to well someone was listening in. I thought it best to give them more valuable data to keep them off my trail. I think it time I tell them a little about time travel, that would sure get them off my back...for a well anyway," Doctor? Have you humans ever calculated time travel?"

The doctor's eyes sparked with immediate interest,"NO! I'm mean YES...well sort of..."

This little man amused me, it was hard to keep focus," Which is it doctor? Either you have or you haven't"

"Our scientist's have theories, but no really hard evidence. As a matter of fact, a scientist named Einstein in 1905 developed two theories. Special Relativity and General Relativity. His paper stated:
*1. The law of physic are the same for all observers in uniform motion
2. Speed of light in a vacuum is the same for all observers, regardless of their motion
In General Relativity, it states:
1. Clocks run more slowly in deeper gravitational wells
2. Orbits precess in a way unexpected in Newton's theory of gravity, which has already been observed in the orbit of Mercury and in binary pulsars.
3. Rays of light bend in the presence of a gravitational field, which has been observed by the presence of a black hole.
4. The Universe is expanding at a faster rate then expected...faster than the speed of light.

Einstein sounds to me like another prodigy, I thought to myself," Yes...I've brushed up on past mathematical equations. Sounds to me Einstein shape the future of your understanding of the universe."

"Oh Yes...Einstein planted the seed...but his biggest problem in those early years, not very many people could fully understand the theory in detail. It wasn't until the 1960's when things began to happen. I mean after developing the Atomic Bomb in 1945, an acute interest was sparked in order to answer astronomical phenomena...such as quasars, pulsars and the discovery of the first black hole in 1971. Einsteins theories were more appreciate after new mathematical techniques," Dr. Jennis raced along," You might say the nuclear age brought with it a new interest in science..."

"Yes doctor," I said, trying to keep interest," Wars seem to spark a new interest in science...for the purpose to outwit their enemy."

"Ah...yes mentioned evidence in our solar system?" Dr. Jennis was eager to change the subject.

"Yes doctor," I was so amused," What planet gives you a promising history?"

"Oh well...that's easy,"The doctor scrambled his words," Mars of course...Mars!"

"Excellent doctor," this is fun, I thought,"Your exactly right!"

The doctor smiled as if he just won a prize," Did your people colonize Mars!

"Not exactly doctor, I said with an evil grin," not exactly... It was originally occupied by my people's rivals...the Green Skins."

Dr. Jennis couldn't sit still, he was so excited," Green Skins! You fought the Green Skins? What were
they like? Did they resemble lizards? Is that why you call them Green Skins? Did they attack..."

As amused as I was, I had to interrupt the doctor," Doctor Jennis...please question at a
time, If I had the ability to laugh, I would be rolling in laughter, I relished a mechanical snicker instead," Oh my doctor...your species are so funny. Are you all like this?"

Dr. Jennis wasn't amused, realizing his own excitement must look ridiculous. He quickly calmed down, with a more serious tone," Casey...what about Mars? Was it colonized by these Green Skins?"

I mustard a mechanical nod," Yes doctor, the Green Skins did colonize Mars...over 30,000 years before
your species took a foothold on earth."

"So...that means...,"Dr. Jennis said.

"I quickly interrupted," Yes doctor, that means there still would be some kind of evidence of their existence."

Dr. Jennis couldn't keep his composure," That's totally amazing!" His little brain was racing with excitement," We are headed to Mars...our very first manned mission to Mars!" He started pacing up and down the conference room and then abruptly stopped in his tracks," Wait a minute! Wait a minute!,He said," Is it possible that we may find more robotics just like you Casey!"

" We are called androids, doctor," I rolled my bloodstone eyes," humanoid androids..."

The doctor was distracted, in deep thought. He realizes I said something," Oh...of course Casey...of
course...androids," He looks up,starring directly at me, waiting impatiently for an answer," there?"

I thought I play with him a little,"Is there what doctor?"

"Is there a possibility of other androids like yourself on Mars!, the doctor was having a difficult time spitting out his words.

"Yes doctor," I said," It's quite possible...but I'm not sure what kind of shape they would be in."

The doctor was more interested in past colonization of Mars and androids then time travel. Maybe I'll leave it at that, tell them about time travel another time. Ah,another time! I think humans would call this playing with words or even a joke. These human species had interesting characteristics unlike my creators.

OK...the doctor is starring at me again, he waiting for more information. This species sure stare a lot, they remind me like children of Sirus 5.

"Doctor?"I said," Is there something else would like to know?"

"OH YES CASEY!" Dr. Laplace urged me along," Would you say there are different kinds of androids?"

"Very much so, doctor," I stated," My creators had three different classes of androids while the Green Skins only had one type. The Sorieus People created clerical androids, like myself, Protector androids and starship data entry androids. The Green Skins had only one use for androids - War."

"Now that's very interesting Casey..."Dr. Jennis edged me for more," Where do you think would be the best place to start looking?"

" Start looking?" I toyed with the doctor.

"Where on Mars would the ancient androids be hiding?" Dr. Laplace frowned, knowing to well I was playing around.

" Mars has a lot of volcanic tunnels underneath its surface, leaving a maze of what we called Wormholes, I said," these wormholes hide a network of cities built by the Green Skins. You might find traces of old androids left behind, due to malfunction or injury."

"That's remarkable," Dr. Jennis had a hard time keeping still, it was like he hit the mother load," I would love to be the one to survey these valuable archaeological discoveries. This is so awesome!"

"Don't we have a lot to do today doctor?" I said, knowingly changing the subject," Weren't you going to take me on a tour of this new facility of yours?".

My hidden agenda was obvious, I had to calculate this architectural structure for further study. I mean, after all, my objective is simple, find Dex Riley and give him vital information about Mars.

The doctor stops pacing," Oh're right Casey, I forgot. I'm just so excited that we found you. You don't realize how valuable you really are."

Oh Come on! I thought to myself. Really??? If they only knew Commander Cardin had planted me deep within the cavern, on the intent that someone with some sort of intelligence would find me in the future.

Not sure how long I can keep up this charade, it was certainly degrading my superior intelligence, but I had no choice. Somehow, I must convince these humans the importance of Dex Riley.

Dr. Jennis interrupts my thoughts," Well Casey...would you like to join me for a tour?"

"Of course doctor,"I said," Lead the way doctor..."

My objective is simple, find Dex Riley and give him vital information about Mars.

Chapter Five - Interrogation

Entering the darkness of the theme room, BLUE EARTH  featuring acrylic walls, recessed soft lights and mirror images of planet earth, one would quickly feel as if they were orbiting our planet.

It certainly didn't look like your typical interrogation room.

After decades of savage procedures using techniques like water boarding or electric shock, specialists in human behavior realized that subjects let their guard down more often than not, when interrogated in an inviting surroundings. It was common to have food and drink with soft background music and military staff out of uniform.

Interrogations room were commonly named Conference Theater Rooms because they resembled your typical home theater. A long room with a fully stocked  bar serviced by a female or male attendant.  It had eight large comfortable theater chairs with a set of four (each set on a 45 degree angle) along each wall.
Just ahead of the bar was an elaborate lone theater chair at the center of attention, nicknamed, "Sweet Sara".
Appointed officers were already seated, waiting patiently for the session to begin. If you didn't already know they were officers, you probably wouldn't known their rank, simply because they were casually dressed  in T-shirts and jeans.

Dr. Micheal Jennis entered the room with five of his fellow robotics engineers, who file up along the bar. Dr. Jennis stands just behind Sweet Sara. He places some materials and a ultra-thin computer tablet on the bar.

An older man in his late 60's gets up to meet Dr. Jennis. This person in charge was only visible by his short military fashion hair cut.

Dr. Jennis extends out his hand, "Good Morning General!"

General Carson shakes his hand, smiling," Good Morning Doctor, I've heard so much about you. It's a pleasure to meet you in person."

In the shadows of  the back room a younger gentleman smartly dressed in an expensive suit walks up to the General. The General quickly introduces him to Dr. Jennis, " Doctor! I would like to introduce Peter Weyland of the Weyland Corporation."

Dr. Jennis is very pleased to finally meet the man responsible for funding his archaeological projects. He quickly shakes Peter's hand," It's a pleasure to finally meet you. Our team is very grateful for all the funding you have provide us with."

Peter smiles," The pleasure is all mine Doctor!"

Dr. Jennis excitedly interrupts Peter Weyland,"  I'll never forget the day you discovered a synthetic trachea constructed entirely of synthetically- engineered stems cells. You were only 14 yrs old. Amazing!"

"Yes. Thank you Doctor," Peter shrugs it off as just another day," Yes. It was my 12 registered patent to date."
Peter Weyland isn't the sort of man for small chitchat," My history is all very interesting, but I'm more interested in your new discovery. Shall we get on with it."

General Carson smiles. Dr. Jennis quickly realizes Peter is all about business," Oh. Yes. Of course Mr. Weyland, but first let me give you some background on our project."

"Certainly Doctor, but make it quick," Peter Weyland says without any emotion.

Dr. Jennis is a little ticked off at Peter's response, but carries on," Of course! If you wouldn't mind having a seat, I'll get started."

Peter walks back to the shadows of the room along with General Carson.

Dr. Jennis nods, begins to speak  loud and clear," On Nov 5th 2015 our archaeological team discovered a secret entrance under a historical site of the eighteenth dynasty of the great Pharaoh Akhenaten referred to as Thebes, now known today as Luxor."

The female server behind the bar sets down a drink close to Dr. Jennis.
Dr Jennis smiles and nods at the server. He takes a sip and continues on," Previous archaeologist's have excavated this same area, but not once did they find what we found four weeks ago."

All eyes were glued on Dr. Jennis, eagerly waiting, for him to continue. He picks up his wafer-thin computer tablet laying on the bar and begins talking to the group," All this information is Top Secret. Dr. Jennis slides his fingers on the tablet, up pops a large transparent screen. It's easy for the audience to see the information on both sides of the screen facing them.
Dr. Jennis continues," The Project we're working on is called Golden Pharaoh. Please observe the screen." He reads the outlined format on the screen.

Golden Pharaoh
  • Operation Golden Pharaoh is the discover of an Alien source android.
  • The android has a name. It calls itself Casey - Robotics 6000 series
  • It's known to originate from a planet known as Sirus 5, deep within the Sirius Cluster.
  • It's date of origin is unknown.
  • Android Casey was created as a female robot for unknown reasons.
  • This particular model 6000 series is very intelligent and has the ability to speak as we do. It also has reasoning power and its own character.

Dr. Jennis stops. Looks up at his audience, he smiles," When I mean Casey has character, I mean she has quite a character. She can become very sarcastic."
Everyone in the room chuckles.

Dr. Jennis continues," Under closer evaluation  it's my belief Casey thinks of us an inferior species."

He stops waiting for any comments, he gets zombie stares, Dr. Jennis frowns in disbelief, he thinks to himself," Well that was fast. They lost interest already? What a bunch of meat heads!"

He continues,"This is all we have for now. Are there any questions before I bring in our subject?"

The room is filled with an astounding silence. You swear you were talking to a bunch of zombies. "Maybe it just how the military process information. ummmm." thought Dr. Jennis.

From the shadows of the room, Peter Weyland quickly interrupts the silence, Thank you Dr. Jennis, are you ready to bring in the subject?"

Dr. Jennis wipes his hands in eagerness,"Well. Without further a due, let me bring in the Prize Specimen."

Dr. Jennis quickly walks out the room into the well lit hallway of the military complex. He heads over to a side door, opening it slowly, not to cause alarm.
Inside is your typical brightly lite medical room, with the android laying out on the raised medical bed. Electronic equipment, circuits and robot parts are laying around the room. There's a over-head laser projector just above the medical table.

Suddenly the android seats up and speaks," Good Morning doctor. It's nice to see you again."

Dr. Jennis is overjoyed," Good Morning Casey! Would you like to see some of my new friends?"

Casey's eyes twinkle,"Most certainly doctor. Are they?"

"Are they?" Dr. Jennis is confused, " Are they what Casey?"

" Are they really friendly. As you state they are doctor," Casey says with a friendly robotics smile, she quickly changes the subject," I'm quite amazed how well your team put me back together doctor. Could you help me off this table. Could you assist me doctor?"

Dr. Jennis rushes to Casey's aid, but really Casey is just pretending. She's just making sure Dr. Jennis is close to her side. Earlier she disconnected the cameras just by thinking of it and had tried out her walking pattern with her new set of legs.

Dr. Jennis assists Casey off the table. Casey begins to shuffle along, like a bird with a wounded wing. Dr. Jennis notices,"Is everything running alright Casey?"

Casey's looks worried, but inside she's thinking how dumb are these people anyway" I guess I'm still a little rusty Doctor."

Dr. Jennis nods, taken note. They head down the hallway, entering into the Theater Room. The room was filled with whispers. As soon as Casey entered the room, it became dead silent.

"You can sit here," Dr. Jennis motions Casey to sit at the lone centered theater chair. Casey sits down, thinking to herself, " Ah. I see. It's some sort of interrogation room. But it has a feel of home. It kind of makes me homesick. Sure miss Space Exploration."

Casey looks about, her eyes quickly scan the two men in the back of the room. Casey speaks, " Oh nice. Thank you doctor. Who are these people?"

Dr. Jennis reaches over the chair and whispers to Casey,"It's ok Casey.  If you feel uncomfortable at any time, just let me know!"

Casey nods and smiles without even looking at Dr. Jennis. Casey is well aware of the surroundings. Her tactile scanner had already searched the room the second they entered,"Yes doctor," I understand. Please proceed."
Dr. Jennis nods, whispers back,"Thank you Casey!" He then faces his crowd, looking with keen interest now.
"Well. That's better," thought Dr. Jennis.

He continues," Let me introduce you to the best scientific discovery ever made!" He waves his hand," CASEY 6000 SERIES!"

Everyone claps. Casey's head moves around, scanning each individual in the room. Taking heart rate, temperature, infra red readings and emotional status. She quickly picks up the one gentleman in the back. Her data feeds immediately hacks into the Weyland Corporation Industries main computer. She quickly fills her data banks with all the necessary information. A quick download of Peter Weyland.

Casey is intrigue by  this young mans accomplishments. Even though she already knows about Peter Weyland, she speaks," Who's the gentleman in the back of the room?"

Peter Weyland quickly responds," Very good Casey! That didn't take you very long."

Casey is even more intrigued," What do you mean Sir?"

Peter comes out of the shadows and smiles," Well. It's obvious you know who I am, already. Due to the fact that you pin point me out in seconds. Not to mention you most probably know of each gentleman in this room."

Everyone is shocked, with some looking embarrassed. But not Peter Weyland, he's far to intelligent to get had by a walking computer. Peter Weyland places in hands in his pockets," And I can bet you, you have already tapped into my companies main computers. Haven't you Casey?"

Casey is even more intrigued,"Mr. Weyland. Sir. I can assure you I have no idea what you are talking about. But to make you happy, I do know you are an important figure of some kind. Would you happen to be the leader of this planet?"
The room fills with hushed laughter. Peter Weyland clears his throat and the room is suddenly dead silent. He wasn't buying any of this," Ok, Casey. It's ok. Tell me more about you. Tell me something I need to know."

Casey gives a monotone smile with a tickle in her eyes," Good. I like that. A man of business. Right to the point. It's very simply really. I'm from the region of the Sirius Cluster. Most probably known to you as the Alpha Canis Majoris Constellation."

Peter Weyland interrupts," And who exactly made you Casey?"

Casey continues as if she didn't hear him," I've come far far away, from a small planet we called Sirus 5.  My people are SIRIANS."

Peter Weyland interrupts," What was your purpose on earth? What made you to come here?"

Casey thought to herself," These human beings sure are boring me to death."

In amusement by Peter Weyland's questioning, she continues,"It looks like my neurons are going to get a work-out. Our people had no choice but to find a suitable planet capable of life. Sirius C, our sun was slowly turning into a what you call a Red Giant."

Peter Weyland is taking a mental note," I see."

"No. I don't think you do see Mr. Weyland Sir, interrupts Casey," Please let me continue. Our planet was ruled by a King. King Osiris."

Peter Weyland interrupts again," You said was. Does this mean your people no longer exist?"

Casey smiles, ignores Peter and continues," As I was saying. King Osiris commissioned to find a suitable planet for his people before Sirus 5 became inhabitable. After a series of satellites, they finally found this planet in the milky way system as the most suitable candidate."

Peter Weyland speaks up again," Interesting."

Casey continues," Yes. Very. After analyzing this planet, King Osiris was confidant enough to send his best team for the mission. An elite team known as BLACK ANGELS."

Dr. Jennis excited, steps-in interrupting Casey," Oh exciting Casey!  Please excuse me Casey, but would you say they were some kind of military team?"

Casey turns her head slowly at Dr. Jennis, becoming a little annoyed with all the boring questions, she speaks again," Yes. Very. Dr. Jennis. If you wouldn't mind, we can get this over a lot faster if I wasn't interrupted all the time."

Dr. Jennis nods in agreement," Oh. Yes. Of course Casey. Sorry. Carry on."

Casey nods," Thank you doctor. As I was saying. Yes doctor. You are right. They were a very educated well machined, excuse the pun. I'm thinking very much like your Military Ops Team, but more... How would you say this nicely."

Peter Weyland speaks out," Advanced."

Casey nods in agreement," Yes. Exactly Mr. Weyland sir.

Peter Weyland says with a grim face," What was their mission?"

Casey looks blankly at Peter Weyland, starting to become very annoyed with his questioning. She knew if this species knows more of where they came from, it just might be detrimental to her overall mission. If they even had a whisper of a thought to understand where their ancestors came from. The fact that it was all a series of experiments, leading to the cross genetics of a more undeveloped species. It would sure be the end of Casey. It was time to put a end to this questioning.

"Dr. Jennis. I'm not feeling that well. May we continue this questioning another time?" Casey turns to Dr. Jennis with a lost puppy expression.

Dr. Jennis jumps, " Yes. Of course Casey. Of course." He looks at the congregation," We can continue at another time. Would you agree Mr. Weyland?"

Peter Weyland nods," Yes doctor."

Dr. Jennis helps Casey out the chair, when Peter Weyland just so happens to speak out again," Just one last question Casey, if you wouldn't mind."

Casey stands up tall, as if she was about to put her hands on her waist in disagreement. Casey nods," Yes. Mr Weyland Sir. Go ahead."

Peter Weyland," How long ago did you say you came here?"

Casey frowns," I didn't say sir. I'm not really sure, Mr Weyland. I can't really say. But one thing I'm sure about. My people were ambushed. And all I know is, I was dismantled and probably left for dead. Well. Off-line. Uncommission."

Peter Weyland," I see. Well. Thank you Casey. It's my hope we learn more about you and possibly some more truth. Thank you."

Everyone gets up clapping.  Dr. Jennis helps Casey out the room. Everyone begins to talking in smaller groups, exchanging their thoughts.

General Carson speaks softly," Well Mr. Weyland. What do you think?

Peter Weyland isn't the sort of man to be duke so easily," I don't think General. I know. There's something more to this story."

General Carson nods in agreement.

YEAR 2015

CASEY 10 - 6000 SERIES

To my calculations, it was a good four days later when I realized my circuits were turned back on by those annoying humans.

Had they even found the other half of body? Making me suffer did not impress me at all. What kind of torture was next? And this room. What's with this room! It's so bright.  Why all the these spot lights? Must be some sort of customary torture.

"Good morning Casey", Dr. Jennis said softly," How do you feel?"

Really? Is this little man kidding me?

How do I feel,I said," How do you expect me to feel? Is it customary to torture your guests? All your getting out of me is my serial number. Model  number 7Z6000107, Series 10."

Dr. Jennis couldn't help but  laugh," Oh my dear friend. We aren't torturing you. We are helping you."

"You call this help," I said," Strapping me down under these annoying bright lights!"

Dr. Jennis quavered," Oh my dear Casey, you are in a robotics laboratory. I mean hospital," The doctor bit his lip.

"A laboratory!", I snarled," You have me in a laboratory!  I'm not a  rat!"

"Look...Casey," said Dr. Jennis," We are not here to harm you. As a matter of fact, we are here to put you back together. Make you good as new."

No doubt, I was puzzled,"If you're not here to torture me,what's with the bright lights?"

The lights of the sterile laboratory  did resemble a hospital except the hustle of robotics engineers repairing this very old relic of an android. It was easy to understand why Casey thought he was being tortured.

The far end of the room laid the other half of Casey's torso. A complex series of specialized circuits, magnets and a mass of frayed wires intertwined within alloy titanium legs. Each super leg had a wafer computer chip protected deep inside the thick knees.

"Listen Casey," said Dr. Jennis," We are going to shut you down again in order that our robotics scientists can put your torso back on."

I said sarcastic," Oh goody!"

It wasn't long after that last comment, I dropped into a robotics deep sleep, thinking how good it was going to be in one piece again.
Did you know Robotic with Series 6000 are capable of dreaming.
It's believed our dreams are related to our our experiences throughout the existence of each robotics.
I happened to be dreaming of dragons swooping across the earthling sky, when I was rudely interrupted by these annoying humans.

Once again this little man peered into my blood-stone eyes. How annoying! How would he like it if I poked at him.

"Ah! You're awake!," said Dr. Jennis" Good to have you back!"

I quickly noticed I was laying flat on a metal table, but for the first time in a long time, I was whole again. I could move my limbs freely, how amazing is that I thought.

"Doesn't your species believe in comfort?" I said.

Dr. Jennis was taken back by my comment," What do you mean Casey?"

"Well, I said sarcastic," Would you lie on such an uncomfortable table?"

Jennis laughs quietly,"Oh my Casey, you are so funny. It is such a pleasure to have found you!"

"I'm glad you think I'm amusing, could you help me down...if you wouldn't mind,"I said looking around.

Dr. Jennis quickly pats Casey on her hard alloyed surface, " I'm sorry Casey, but we still have a few things to do. I not sure it's a good idea to have you walking as of yet."

I checked my circuits, requesting a follow-up check on my limbs, looking for any malformities. I could not see any," Excuse me doctor, but I believe everything is in working order. Did I miss something?"

"No. Oh no Casey," Dr. Jennis remarks," It's just a matter of being cautious. We don't want to take any chances as of yet. Would you mind waiting a little bite longer?"

Well. I must say I'm kind of puzzled by this, but I guess I'll humor these humans. I said," Ok. That's fine with me. Do you a least have something soft I can lay on?"

Dr. Jennis smiles," Of course!". He motions over an robotics engineer," Could you please make our guest more comfortable."

The robotics engineers looks confused, but nods his head, looks around and picks up a long piece of foam used for packing," Would this do?"

Dr. Jennis agrees," Yes. Prefect. Would you place it under our guest, so she is comfortable."

Robotics engineer and Dr. Jennis lift Casey up carefully, placing the foam underneath.

Dr. Jennis looks intently on Casey," How's that, better?"

I decide to move around a little, trying to get a nice fit to this piece of foam. Thought to myself," Is this really all they have? I mean really!"  I adjust some more," Yes. Better."

I'm glad you approve Casey," said Dr. Jennis.

Jennis looks worried, " Would you be ok to speak to some of my friends?"

I must of been looking at him a little strange, " You mean now?"

"Oh no!," exclaimed Jennis, " Not now. How's tomorrow sound to you?"

I smiled, it was so easy to get this human flustered, " Yes. That would be better. I need my rest now."

"Of course Casey. Of course," Dr. Jennis  waved for the rest of his staff to leave," Is there anything else I can do for you Casey?"

"No. I don't believe there is," I said. I thought to myself," Never you mind you little human. I'll check out my new legs by myself. I don't need your help. Boy. This species is sure different from  my previous makers. Interesting."

"Well. If that's everything," Dr. Jennis smiles," I'll be calling it a night. Have a good night Casey. It so nice to have found you."

I looked at him with what must of been a blank stare. It was if he wanted me to say something else. Oh fine. Maybe if I just nod my head and he'll go away.

Dr. Jennis nods back," Good night Casey. See you in the morning." Jennis heads out closing the door softly behind him.

"Wow! Finally, I said to myself," Oh look. They have some sort of security system. Looks like an old camera system of some sorts. No problem. I'll just hack into their computer and turn it off for a short time.

 Excavation of Amarna

 Black Angels by Bari Demers

"It was exactly Nov 5th 2017 , 14: 40: 03  hours, when Dr. Jennis turned on my circuits. It was the beginning of a new mission."

Dr. Mark Jennis is in his mid 50's, a rounded cheerful man who's meticulous about his work. His archaeological excavation has been tedious, but worth every minute.

Never in a million years did he ever expect to find evidence about the lost civilization, only known as the SIRIANS.  During his studies at the University of Oxford, each student was required to write a 15,000 word thesis. His colleague, Chris Thompson was working on "Killing Cousins", a thesis about the transformation of apes in Equatorial Africa. Her work intrigued Mark, to the point they would talk for hours over the transformation of Apes to Ape-man.

Chris was not only the top student in her field, but she had this charisma that would charm anyone. The typical stunning blonde easily captivated Dr. Jennis, but it was her intelligence that made them a perfect pair.  She would playfully state, evolution must of taken millions of years before any transformation ever occurred.  But Mark would argue,"What if Ape-man had a jump-start by an unknown intelligent species, way before mankind ever had a foothold on earth?"

He eventually wrote his thesis called,"The Lost Civilization" trying to convince his peers. The Theory was so outlandish, his professor at the time, cautioned him, such a ridiculous paper would surely cost him his grade. If it wasn't for his girlfriends support, he might have been kicked out. Once again, Chris charmed everyone to believe, maybe, just maybe, the theory wasn't that crazy after all.

But, just before graduation, Chris was involved in a traffic accident, crushing  Dr. Jennis world. Unfortunately, Chris had died. He vowed he would keep their project alive, no matter what.  Mark became recluse concentrating on his work.  Without backup from Chris, his peers would ridicule his thesis.

Dr. Jennis would spend over a decade trying to raise funds for his project without any successful, until one fateful day.  He was just about to give up, when an well known investor became very interested after reading his thesis, "The Lost Civilization". The investor's name was James Wiseman of the TEMPRO (Terraforming Engineering and Mining Production Resources Operations).

It was the year 2017, just months before Mr. James Wiseman was about to receive the Noble Prize for Terraforming Operations on the Titan.  Dr. Jennis came across the most incredible archaeological artifact ever to be discovered.  He was about to prove everyone wrong, but this time, it was Peter Weyland who decided it was in their best interest to keep this a secret company matter.

 Black Angels by Bari Demers

Nov 5th 2017 , 14: 40: 03  hours

The robotics machine lights up in a series of flickers

Dr. Jennis carefully whips the ages of dust off the artifact.  He whispers,"Can you hear me?"

"Can I talk," I thought,"What does he mean?"

It was then I realized my circuits must be a little rusty.  My robotics frame whirled up way to slowly," What's wrong with my circuits? This isn't right?"

My whole system was taking forever to start-up. This isn't at all like me, I tried my best to speak but couldn't.

"What's going on?"I thought,"Oh... there we go, circulatory systems are functioning, but what's wrong with my arm,? It isn't working at all. And why can't I see?"

"On wait, eyes are focusing. Good!"

The android looked so human, like one of those new electronic manikans at Macy's.

Dr. Jennis is excited. This ancient android is functioning," Can you talk?"

"Who is this man? I thought," What a funny looking creature. My god, does he have to stand so close to me. OK. I CAN SEE YOU! As a matter of fact I can see into those blue eyes of yours. Why can't I talk? This man is getting annoying!"

Dr. Jennis removes a strand of cobwebs from this intriguing humanoid machine," Can you hear me?"

The android began to move.

Dr. Jennis and his team of students stumble back, frightened, but amazed.

Nervous, the doctor gets enough courage to kneel again.

"Will you stop that!" I said.

The doctor scrambles up," Holy Christ!" He spins around uncertain what to do next.

"Are you feeling ok? Do you need medical attention?" I said sarcastically.

"," Dr. Jennis is flabbergasted.

" Of course I can talk,I said," Why do you think I can't talk?"

"Ah...good question... I guess may because you're an machine,"Jennis says.

"What?  How dare you call me a machine.  Listen buddy!  My name is Bastet.
I'm a first class model.  I'm the best of the best, you see!  Class 10-6000 series of the Robotics Empire Guards under our Lord King Osiris, I spouted out, " And who exactly ARE YOU!".

Dr. Jennis takes out a handkerchief, patting his head," My name is Dr. Mark Jennis. Do you know where you are?"

I snapped," Of course I know where I am. We are within the finest structure every built by Queen Siri. It's called the Amarna".

"You must be mistaken...Bastet is it? ,"corrects Dr. Jennis," Is it ok I call you Bastet?"

"Oh dear Lord our Gods of  Heavens, what is it that this man doesn't understand?" I thought,"What does he think I am?

"Listen. You do speak my language, so what is it you don't understand, I snapped," My name is Bastet. I'm a first class android - Series 6000, Class 10. Do you know what that means?"

The students are stunned while Dr. Jennis just smiles," How delightful...ah no Bastet, I don't believe I do know."

"Am I here to amuse you?" I cautioned," Do I look like I was made to amuse you?"

Dr. Jennis doesn't know what to say to all of this. He and his students just stare.

"Can you talk?" I said sarcastically," Did someone bite your tongue?"

Dr. Jennis snaps out of it," course not Bastet. Please forgive me. It's not every day we have the privilege to meet a android like yourself".

"Yes. That's correct, I claimed," Not only that, I'm the highest AIA intelligence of my kind. You can't find anyone better than me."

Dr. Jennis nods," Well Bastet, then you will be able to understand what I'm going to tell you. First of all, I like to point out, that it appears you have had some circuitry damage. According to historical accounts, Amarna was built by Amenhotep IV of Egypt or otherwise known as Pharaoh Akhenaten in the year 1346 BC."

That is rubbish! " I yelled," You must be mistaken. Amarna is a military underground complex built by our finest architects in year of our Lord King Osiris."

The students were beginning to crowd over this curious android by its strange name of Bastet.

"Can you ask everyone to stand back doctor." I said annoyed," Give me some room to think, will you?"

"Yes, of course Bastet,"Dr. Jennis waves everyone back," Let give this little guy some room please."

Bastet eyes whirl blood red.

"Little guy?" I thought to myself," I mean really, look who's tiny here. Big Guy."

Dr. Jennis places a flashlight into my eyes," Is everything ok Bastet?"

"Everything is fine doctor, I said in angry," Do you mind? Stop starring into my eyes! Are you on some kind of medication?

"Oh. Yes. Of course Bastet,"Dr. Jennis says,"We just noticed your eyes turning red. Does that mean anything?"

"It means I'm annoyed! Dr. Jennis is it ?," I said

Everyone begins to sneaker except Dr. Jennis. He's amazed by the sarcastic android.

Dr. Jennis clears his throat,"You won't hurt us...will you Bastet?"

"Of course not?" I said whirling my head,"May I continue?"

"Of course, Dr. Jennis grins,"Please. Go ahead Bastet !"

"Oh good,"I decided to smile," As I was saying...under Lord King Osiris this complex was built for the purpose to withstand the constant attacks by our rivals,The Jotunn.  It was logical to build this fortress. Not to mention those annoying BLACK ANGELS."

"Black Angels? Interesting," Dr. Jennis looks over his shoulder, facing one of students," Are you recording this Tyler! This is amazing!"

Student Tyler is in his early twenties, long blond hair always tied in a ponytail, tall and wired like his Swedish ancestors. He had a strong accent, smiles with excitement," Yes Doctor! This is totally awesome!"

"Will you stop interrupting me!," I demanded," Who is your Commander. Maybe I should be speaking to him instead."

Dr. Jennis tries to console Bastet,"Well. My boss is James Wiseman. And, unfortunately, he's not here right now. But, be assured, he's very interested in meeting you. And..."

"And what?" I said impatiently.

Dr. Jennis feels uncomfortable," Now... I want you to understand something here. OK? Don't get mad..OK?"

"What is it?," I was starting to get mad.

Dr. Jennis gives that hopeful stare.

"OK. Fine!," I said," What do you want me to understand?"

" OK...well...," Dr. Jennis says, "Bastet. This is going to be a shock for you, but it appears you have been out of commission for a long...long time."

"What ever do you mean!," I snapped," How long has it been...exactly?"

Dr. Jennis scratches his nose, the dust was getting to him. He sneezes whipping his nose with his handkerchief," Well...let just say it's been awhile.

Dr. Jennis pauses.

"Well?" I said.

Dr. Jennis shakes his head," Now... don't get's the year... 2017."

I was in shock. How could this possibly be?

"You have been out of commission for some time." Dr. Jennis continues.

I snarled," That's impossible. That would mean I've been sitting here for over..."

"Yes Bastet. You were about to say?" Dr. Jennis can barely hold back his eagerness," Go ahead. Please tell us how long you figure its been?"

"You know. I must be mistaken, I said cautiously, " I can't seem to remember. Isn't that strange."

Dr. Jennis folds his arms, not believing it at all.

"No...seriously, my circuits must be a little rusty," I lied. Who would ever think an android was lying anyway. I must be careful. Can't be sure if they are friendly or working for the Jotunn's. I must bite my tongue.

Dr. Jennis just stares.

"So?," I questioned.

"So...,"Dr. Jenni grins," Let's get you back to brand new. I know of a fine crew who love to take care of you. They are the best android specialist of our time."

"OK doctor,"I said with caution," But, lets get one thing straight. I am a very special 6000 let's keep that in careful!"

"Of course Bastet," Dr. Jennis smiles," of course. We will take the best care of you. And, please, don't hesitate in letting our team know if you need anything. Anything at all. Ok?"

"OK Doctor,I said, " Just remember who you are dealing with."

Dr. Jennis nods in agreement.

The students carefully place Bastet on a stretcher, out through the ancient cavern.

Dr. Jennis leans against one of the massive marble walls, "Mr Wiseman is going to be so impressed.  TEMPRO INDUSTRIES are sure to profit from my discovery. This android will be put to good use."
